Flexibility, Injury prevention, Endurance , Rhythm, Coordination, Energy

At Moving Art, we offer dance technique classes, exam classes and competitive classes.  Our Performance/Competition team is by audition only and is known for many high awards, special awards and overall awards.  Our aim is to uphold the standards set by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association (CDTA), and provide performance opportunities for a well rounded ‘Moving’ dance education.  Each class starts with a F.I.E.R.C.E warm up!  This warm up includes exercises and skills that work on Flexibility, Injury prevention, Endurance, Rhythm, Coordination, Energy!! Dancers learn progressions across the floor, as well as various skills and combinations to be used in routines.

All students learn choreography for their year-end performance at Georgian College Theatre in Barrie.

Qualities and skills that students learn, while studying and performing with Moving Art, serve them well in their future endeavours.  We create a family of lifelong learners.

Pre-Primary/Primary (Ages 3-6)

Here at Moving Art, we offer a variety of classes for our littlest movers.  We strive to create a love of the arts early on in our students journey with us.  In our Pre-Primary and Primary dance classes, your child will learn the fundamentals of movement, gaining strength, flexibility and and an understanding of rhythm all while having fun with our team of amazing instructors.  Our Pre-Primary and Primary dance classes include Ballet, Tap, Acro, Jazz and Modern.

Mini (Ages 7-9)

For our 7-9 year old students, we continue to encourage a love for the arts while building off of the fundamental movement skills they have acquired in the Primary grades.  They will enhance their strength, flexibility, sense of rhythm and continue to challenge their dance vocabulary, learning new and exciting skill sets.  Classes that we have available for this age group include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Hip Hop and JAM (Jazz/Acro/Modern).

Junior (Ages 10-12)

At this level, our dancers are really starting to understand how to move with confidence.  They are understanding the importance of technique and are beginning to apply more technical aspects to skills they have already learned.  Our awesome team of instructors engage and encourage the students to keep them motivated and interested in continuing their artistic journey with us here at Moving Art.  Classes available for this age group include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical and JAM (Jazz/Acro/Modern).

Teen Ages 13+

We have a wide variety of classes for our teenaged students.  They have a very good understanding of movement and rhythm at this age and are ready to fine tune their technique so that they are executing skills properly and safely.  Our incredible instructors continue to encourage these dancers to step outside of their comfort zones so they can continue to grow and be confident when trying new things.  We strive to provide a safe space for these dancers to feel comfortable and to keep their love for the arts blooming.  The classes that we have available for these dancers include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Hip Hop and Lyrical.

Moving Art is proud to offer dance classes for ALL ages.  Our adult classes are designed to keep you active while having a blast and learning something new!  Drop off your child for class and you can head on into your very own dance class.  Classes for our adults include Tap and Ballet.

Performance Team

Moving Art’s Performance Team is a group of dancers interested in taking their training to the next level.  These dancers work with our instructors to prepare and polish routines to take to dance competitions throughout the region.  Technique and performance skills are valued at this level and we continue to build self confidence to enhance their love for the arts.  Our competitive classes are by audition or invitation only.

Exam Classes

We are proud to offer dance exams in ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. We are associated with: The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) for Ballet, The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) for Modern and Tap, and The Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association (CDTA) for Jazz.

The Royal Academy of Dance provides a ballet syllabus to develop a professional dancer. The RAD is a reputable worldwide organization. Students who study RAD ballet receive an education that prepares them for a career in teaching, performing, or choreography. RAD exams start at the PrePrimary level (4-year-olds) all the way up to Advanced 2 (17 years old and beyond)
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing is based in London, England, but again is recognized worldwide. This organization accommodates our tap and modern students. The syllabus follows fundamental movement skills, appropriate for proper development, which are based on strength, flexibility, performance, musicality, and technique. This ISTD syllabus allows our students to develop the skills to become well-rounded dancers and performers. ISTD Modern and Tap exams are available from the PrePrimary Level (4-year-olds) all the way up to Advanced 2 (17 years old and beyond).
We offer Jazz exams through the Canadian Dance Teachers Association. This organization is recognized across Canada. The focus on technique, energy, and performance, help to develop a polished dancer. CDTA exams are available from the (4-year-olds) all the way up to Advanced 2 (17 years old and beyond).
Exams are a great way for the students to understand the techniques specific to the discipline of dance. Exams are not mandatory, however, if students eligible to participate in the exam programme, we strongly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity.

We are not just a dance studio! We are a performing arts training facility placing equal emphasis on technique and performance quality. We welcome everyone into the Moving Art family.
