Carla Tucker

Co Owner/ Dance Instructor/ Artistic Director

B.A, B.Ed, ARAD, RAD RTS, AISTD – Modern & Tap, CDTA, TESL, PBT

After completing her undergraduate degree at McMaster University, Carla was accepted into York University’s Education program specializing in Fine Arts integration. She served as an elementary school teacher for the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board for ten years all while continuing as a dance educator and choreographer in Simcoe County and the GTA. She has been involved with drama and dance for over 30 years and has taught in many cities including Barrie, Toronto, and Hamilton.

Carla is a registered teacher with the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and the Royal Academy of Dance. She has achieved advanced standing with each of these organizations in the disciplines of Jazz, Modern Theatre, Tap and Ballet. Carla has been involved with the choreography of musicals locally and in the GTA. She has choreographed such musicals as: Gypsy, Fiddler on the Roof, BIG, the Musical (received the THEA award for best choreographer), Jesus Christ Superstar, Seussical the Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rocky Horror Show, 13 The Musical, and Rent. Carla was the choreographer for TBTB’s young company since it’s inaugural season, under the direction of Larissa Mair. Past TBTB choreography credits include: Clark Harris’ Treasure Island, Robin Hood, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White’s Summer Adventure, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. Most recently, she enjoyed her role as Assistant Choreographer for TBTB’s musical production of Crazy for You (nominated for a Broadway World Award, Toronto).

Carla’s passion for the performing arts and education led her to develop Moving Art. Her personal education in dance, drama, and other academics fostered her belief that students are motivated to learn by using kinesthetic principles and active learning. With the programmes offered through Moving Art, she strives to have students develop an understanding and appreciation of drama and dance in a completely comfortable environment. In the process of helping students build confidence, enhance self-esteem, and promote independence, Moving Art strives to enrich the students’ understanding of drama and dance as a form of communication. Since founding the company in 2002, Carla has shared her love for the performing arts with over 30,000 children, young adults, and adults alike!

Kieren Day

Dance Instructor

DMA – Jazz and Ballet, Member of PPA, PCT Certified, Alixa Flexibility Certified, Fundamentals of Hip Hop Education, Lincensed Zumba Instructor

Kieren Day’s passion for the arts started at the young age of five and he has since turned that passion into his career. Kieren attended York University for their BA Program in Dance and has extensive training in Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet, Musical Theatre, and Tap. He has successfully graduated from the four-year teaching program with Dance Masters of America, doing his exams in both Ballet and Jazz. This is Kieren’s ninth year teaching for Moving Art. He also worked with the Mariposa Skating Company teaching some of their off-ice programs, and has been lucky enough to be a guest teacher/choreographer in places such as North Carolina and Michigan. Kieren has also become an active member of the Professionals Adjudicator Alliance and looks forward to adjudicating more dance competitions. Kieren has won various awards at competitions around Ontario and in the United States for his creativity and unique choreography. He is proud to have received other notable awards such as “Artist of the Year” from Simcoe County’s LGBTQ+ Community, as well as two THEA awards for his role as Choreographer for local productions of “Honk!” and “Mamma Mia”. Outside the classroom, Kieren is very involved in the theatre community, from choreographing several musicals to performing in a few himself!

One of Kieren’s favourite performance experiences was dancing down Main Street in Disney’s Magic Kingdom for a parade celebrating dance around the world. Kieren strongly believes there is always room to learn and grow in one’s craft. Kieren looks forward to another fun year and wants you to get up and MOVE IT!

Maddie McClocklin

Dance & Theatre Instructor

Maddie grew up dancing at Moving Art. She was part of the competitive team, and the exam program. Maddie completed RAD Ballet Syllabus exams throughout her years of dance and obtained her Intermediate Ballet Certificate. Maddie choreographed the Kempenfelt Community Players production of Little Mermaid Jr. along with her sister. She has also been an assistant choreographer for other musical productions. After graduating high school, Maddie took a year to decide what direction she wanted go. She decided to jété into the world of child development. Maddie has always loved seeing the joy in a child’s face when they are having fun and doing what children do best, enjoying life! After dabbling in the field for a year, she decided to pursue her post secondary education at Georgian College and has since, graduated from the Early Childhood Education Program. Maddie is so excited to be educating the future generations and can’t wait to incorporate her love of the arts and early childhood education. She is so grateful to have the opportunity to teach the Mini Movers and bring the arts into young lives!

Adam Ashby

Dance & Theatre Instructor

Adam is a performer and choreographer and is so thrilled to be joining the team at Moving Art as a dance instructor. After teaching the In The School Program for a year and a half Adam is so excited to bring his love of dance, fitness and teaching together.

Adam has been dancing since age 10 but his love of the arts began much earlier. He has been performing in plays since he was in Grade 3 and “was born to entertain” as his mom puts it. Adam began dancing at Moving Art in Grade 9 and although he started off as a shy kid he eventually came out of his shell and developed some of his closest friendships at Moving Art. As a competitive dancer Adam has had the opportunity to perform for some of Canada’s Top Adjudicators and has won many awards over the course of his dance career. After dancing for many years Adam decided to start vocals to round out the third of the triple threat status. He has been in many musicals at Moving Art and on professional stages. Some of his favourite performing credits are; Angel in Rent and Tiny Tom in Urinetown (Moving Art), The Heartthrob in You Want It What Way? (Frosted Tips Productions), Finch in Newsies (Lower Ossington Theatre), Harry Witherspoon in Lucky Stiff (NSSS) and Neleus in Mary Poppins (KCP). In addition to performing on stage Adam has also been in commercials and choreographed musicals in the area including; Aladdin, Madagascar Jr, Annie Jr, The Wedding Singer and assistant choreographed The Curious Voyage with Talk is Free Theatre.

Adam is certified in Barre Fitness and is excited to incorporate his training into his teaching. He has a certificate in Environmental Management from the University of Toronto, and is in school currently obtaining his BA in Commerce and studying the environment and nutrition. Adam is a member of the Professional Adjudicators Alliance and is part of the team at Dance Attack Workshops and Competition as a stage manager and occasional host. Adam is thrilled to be teaching dance and fitness and helping kids stay healthy, active and engaged in the arts!

Zoe Sheviak

Piano Instructor

Zoe has been involved in the Performing Arts for over 10 years and throughout this time has discovered her passion for musical theatre, classical voice, piano, and guitar. She started voice lessons at the age of 8, piano lessons not long after, and has participated in numerous musical theatre performances over the years. For the last two years, she has enjoyed expanding her skills at Moving Art through the Triple Threat Program, competitive dance, piano lessons, and Improv. Recently, Zoe studied Classical Voice at the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists. Now, she is planning to begin her journey into professional Musical Theatre Performance and get her ARCT with the Royal Conservatory, after graduation.

Zoe has also won multiple awards and scholarships through local and provincial competitions in Musical Theatre and Classical Voice. Some of these include: Queen’s University DAN School of Drama and Music Award (2022), Plato’s Closet Music Theatre Scholarship (2022), Ontario Music Festival Association, Provincials Finalist (2022, 2023), Neil and Ruth Hightower Scholarship (2022, 2023). She is so excited to be joining the Moving Art staff and is looking forward to sharing her passion for music and performance with the young musicians of the future!

Noah Hollinshead

Theatre Instructor

Noah has been an active member of the local theatre scene for close to 10 years working as a director, actor, technician, and designer. He has taught theatre at various summer camps and directed and been involved with many youth shows in Barrie. Noah loves having the opportunity to share his love for live performance and creativity with the next generation and he thoroughly enjoys working alongside the incredible people at Moving Art, creating so many exciting things every year! Alongside his love for theatre, he also works professionally as a photographer and videographer. Meaghan Ing

Voice and Piano Instructor

Meaghan Ing was born and raised in Barrie, ON. She started studying piano and voice at a young age. After achieving grade 10 piano and grade 9 voice certificates from the Royal Conservatory of Music, her passion for the performing arts led her to Sheridan Institute of Technology where she received her diploma for Music Theatre – Performance.

Since graduating, Meaghan has had many opportunities to work in her field, both on and off stage. Past credits include: Nunsense (Orillia Stage Company), They’re Playing Our Song (Showboat Festival Theatre), The Rocky Horror Show (The Loft), Race Day! (Lighthouse Festival Theatre), the U.S. National Tour of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Drayton/Columbia), Come By The Hills (Smile Theatre), Side By Side By Sondheim (Theatre Collingwood), Urinetown (Theatre Sheridan). Meaghan received a THEA award for Best Musical Direction for her work on South Simcoe Theatre’s production of Little Women in 2007.

Meaghan has been doing all things music at Moving Art since 2011. She loves musical directing the triple threat shows and teaching voice and piano lessons. Meaghan is also the accompanist for Bravado! Show Choir.

Paul Everett

Guitar Instructor

Diploma – Jazz Performance (Mohawk College)

Paul has been playing guitar since the age of 13. After moving to Canada from the UK, he further pursued his interest and studied to be a musician, at Mohawk College. There, he completed his Diploma in Jazz Guitar and has been studying and teaching for all ages ever since. He also worked as a French and Music teacher with the SMCDSB for several years.

Currently, Paul teaches guitar privately, from his home in Barrie. In 2013, Paul met his wife Olivia and formed Pj & Oli, an Acoustic Duet. The duo performs at weddings and other events in Simcoe County and the GTA.

Paul especially enjoys playing in the styles of Jazz, Jazz-Funk, Rock and Blues. He loves to bring his own sense of humor to his work! After all, doing what you love should be fun.

Olivia Everett

Office Administrator; Vocal & Musical Theatre Instructor

B.A., Hons (UTM); Diploma, Hons. – Theatre & Drama Studies (Sheridan)

Originally from Belleville, Olivia graduated with her HBA in Theatre & Drama Studies and Diploma in Acting (U of T/Theatre Erindale & Sheridan College), in 2012. Since graduating she has remained active in theatre and performing arts in the Toronto and Barrie areas Constance Ledbelly in Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet (Theatre Erindale), Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors (SST), Velma Kelly in Chicago (MAT), Irene Molloy in Hello Dolly! (SST), Hope Cladwell in Urinetown (MAT) – but also, and very importantly she remains acquainted with her first love….MUSIC!

While living in Toronto she began singing in an acoustic duet with guitarist (and now husband), Paul Everett. The duet, Pj & Oli performs for events and weddings in Barrie and the GTA, as well as touring some of the wineries in Prince Edward County during the summer.

Olivia began teaching in 2015, and was an instructor assisting with the Triple Threat program at The Melody in Me before she joined Moving Art, in September 2019. She enjoys being part of the lively and artistic environment at Moving Art, and working with the excellent staff to help provide the Barrie area with great Arts education and performance skills.

Jane Morrison

Piano Instructor

They say “experience is the best teacher”, but Jane won’t tell us just how much experience she really has! It seems that she has always been involved in Music Education, beginning as early as her teen years. After earning a Bachelor of Musical Arts from the University of Western Ontario, AMus in Piano and her Teaching Certificate, she taught various grades in the elementary schools of North Shore Board, Renfrew County, Grey County, and provided Music Education for the whole school! Piano students naturally followed.

Since moving to Barrie in 2003, Jane has thoroughly enjoyed being a travelling Piano teacher. She is now anticipating a new chapter of teaching piano at Moving Art.

Morgan Tanner

Dance Instructor

Rhee Gold Discover Dance: Acro Curriculum for Minis & Juniors (4-Part Course); Dance Teacher Roadmap (4-Part Course)

Morgan is an enthusiastic and aspiring dance teacher with a deep passion for the world of dance. She has embarked on a journey to share her love for dance and help others discover the joy of movement. Morgan is dedicated to inspiring and nurturing the next generation of dancers. Her love for dance began at the young age of two, and Morgan has been training in various dance styles, including Acrobatics, Ballet, Jazz, Hiphop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Modern, for many years. Within the centre, Morgan has been involved in the Performance Team, Exam Classes, Exams, Private Music Lessons and the Triple Threat Program. Morgan also competed as a level 9 gymnast, across Canada. She trained with Infinity Gymnastics Centre for 7 years, growing and learning from experienced professionals. Morgan’s teaching approach is centered around creating a positive and supportive learning environment. She understands the challenges that come with learning to dance and is committed to helping her students build confidence and reach their dance goals. She believes that anyone can learn to dance and express themselves through movement, and is excited to be a part of their journey. She has gained experience by assisting other dance instructors with classes. Outside of the studio, Morgan enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She also has a strong passion for music and reading. Morgan’s journey as a dancer and instructor has been a remarkable one, and she committed to inspiring and empowering her students to discover the joy of dance.

Kaleigh Harvey

Dance Instructor

Kaleigh Harvey found her love for dance at the age of 8 and started competing at the age of 11. She has trained in many different genres including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Acro, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical and Musical Theatre at All That’s Dance & More in Barrie. At 13 years old Kaleigh began assisting classes and continued all the way to age 18. In 2015 she spent time training with Dark Dance Company’s summer Right One camp and was asked to perform with the company at their summer showcase in Toronto. Kaleigh received an offer the following year to be a part of the Luv 2 Dance National Elite Dance Team to perform in Orlando, Florida. She also competed with Bear Creek High School’s dance team in Barrie, from 2015-2018 and won numerous awards with them. Kaleigh received the Sensational Six and the Bradford Greenhouse award from Bear Creek High School her graduating year. Kaleigh has now been teaching dance for the past five years and has won many choreography awards throughout the years.

Kaleigh Harvey is currently in school at Georgian College for the Recreation & Leisure Program, certified in Acrobatic Arts and is hoping to extend her education further. Kaleigh is so excited to be part of the Moving Art team and can’t wait for the upcoming season!

Cecilia VanderWerf

Dance Instructor

Cecilia started dancing at the age of 8 and started competing at the age of 10. She competed up until she graduated High School. She is trained in Jazz, Musical Theatre, Song and Dance, Lyrical, Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe, Acro, and a bit of Tap, competing in many of those styles as well. During her competition journey Cecilia has won many awards, overalls and special awards. As a dancer she has done R.A.D Ballet exams up to the Intermediate level and an Acrobatic Arts level 5 exam. In 2016 Cecilia was a dancer in “The Nutcracker” with the National Ballet of Canada in Toronto!

Post High School, Cecilia completed 2 dance programs at George Brown College, in the 1 year Performance Preparatory Program she graduated with a Certificate with honours and in the 2 year Performance Program she graduated with a Diploma with honours. During her time at George Brown she was training Jazz, Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe, Acting, Vocals and Self Choreography classes. Cecilia has worked with many well-known Toronto dancers and choreographers during her college time.

Cecilia has been teaching recreational and competitive dancers since 2020 and her competitive choreography has won many awards including special awards, choreography awards and overall awards. She loves teaching and watching her students improve and grow and she can’t wait to keep growing as a teacher as well.

Michael Holland

Co-Owner/Theatre & Improv Instructor/ Manager

Professional stunt Grad, Second City Conservatory Grad

Michael has been involved in theatre for over ten years as a performer, and as a director. He has been an instructor with Moving Art since 2004. He has a passion for drama, improv and musical theatre and enjoys sharing this with others. He is trained in puppetry, long form improv and is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory Program in Toronto. Michael is also a graduate of Gold Coast, Australia’s Stunt Academy. Michael’s stunt certification includes high fall, weapons, abseiling, driving, fight choreo/tumbling, water and fire.

As someone who enjoys learning about the arts, Michael continues to find time to study guitar, voice, tumbling, circus and puppetry. Favourite theatre credits include: Stinky Luke in Treasure island (Theatre By The Bay), The Cat in Seussical the Musical (KCP), a Protean in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Sunshine Festival), Mark Cohen in Rent (The Loft Art Space), Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream (TBTB), Brad in Rocky Horror Show (The Loft Art Space), Riff Raff in Rocky Horror Show (The Loft Art Space), Leaf Coneybear in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (KCP).

Alongside being an actor in shows, he also enjoys directing and co-writing, shows that have performed on many stages across the GTA including the Toronto Fringe Festival. Favourite directorial credits include: Fairy Tale Rock, Land of Make Believe, Ice, and Adventure Island (all shows which he also co-wrote), Alice In Wonderland Jr., Into the Woods, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s Aladdin Jr., 13 The Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Disney’s Tarzan. Micheal is the co-founder of The Loft Art Space. He is the lead instructor for the Vedette Program at Kempenfelt Bay School. He looks forward to another year with Moving Art.

Mark Le Sueur

Ballet Instructor

Mark began his enjoyment of dance from the age of four. He completed his advanced qualifications in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern including training in RAD, Cecchetti, CDTA, and ISTD. Mark was fortunate enough to train at the Simcoe Dance Academy, National Ballet of Canada, Quinte Dance Centre, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, L’École supérieure de ballet du Québec, and the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
Outside of dance, Mark had the pleasure of teaching English to school children and adults in Taiwan. Mark earned his black belt in the Matsubayashi style of Shorin Ryu karate. Currently, Mark is a carpenter doing high end insurance and restoration work for a prominent construction company in Barrie. Mark has enjoyed teaching ballet at Moving Art since 2018. Mark is very excited to be able to contribute to the Moving Art team this year.

Heather Dennis

Dance & Theatre Instructor/Acting Coach

B.A., Hons (UTM); Diploma, Hons. – Theatre & Drama Studies (Sheridan); Associate Diploma – Tap (ISTD); Associate – Modern; PBT Certified

Heather has been dancing since the age of three and has not stopped since that first ballet class! Growing up Heather trained in ballet (RAD, Cecchetti), tap (ISTD, BATD), jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, hip-hop and acro. Throughout her youth Heather enjoyed travelling all over Ontario as a competitive dancer, and now she enjoys teaching dance at the competitive and recreational level to all ages. Under the mentorship of Carla Tucker, Heather has had the opportunity to expand her dance training in several styles and grow in her dance education. Heather was awarded her Associate Diploma in Tap from the ISTD and is pursuing further qualifications in the ISTD Modern Theatre discipline as well.

Heather is a graduate of Sheridan College and the University of Toronto’s joint Theatre and Drama Studies program, holding a Diploma in Acting and an Honours Degree in Theatre. Since graduating Heather has continued to blend her love of theatre and dance. She has choreographed for several theatre productions within Simcoe County and beyond, including productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Mary Poppins, Matilda, and Shrek to name a few. Heather is also a working actor for both stage and screen. Heather enjoys coaching emerging performing artists, especially those that have an interest in continuing their training at the post-secondary level or who are wishing to pursue acting professionally. Heather’s recent Montessori teacher accreditation also influences her teaching style – following each student’s unique learning journey and guiding them as they find joy in making their own discoveries and connections. Heather brings her training and experience into both the dance studio and the acting studio, striving to have every student leave with a sense of accomplishment and a respect for the performing arts.

Wendy Wood

Dance Instructor

Wendy is an accomplished, award winning teacher and choreographer in all forms of dance. Having run a successful dance studio for 28 years, she hasn’t looked back in her endeavour to share her love of dance with her students and her peers.

Wendy received her training in Toronto, attending dance programs through George Brown College, Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, and the Randolph School for the Performing Arts. Wendy belongs to several dance organizations including the Canadian Dance Teachers Association, International Teachers of Dance, Professional Dance Teachers Association, Acrobatic Arts, and is a member of the Professional Adjudicators Association. Wendy is an accomplished choreographer, trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, acro and musical theatre. Throughout her dance career, Wendy has been involved in sharing her teaching talents through workshops, seminars and choreographing for several musicals including Grease, Leader of the Pack, and The Wizard of Oz, just to name a few. Many of her competitive routines have won top scores and overall titles and awards at dance competitions throughout Ontario and North America. Many of Wendy’s talented students have also gone on to higher education through the National Ballet School in Toronto, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, represented Canada on the World Performers Dance Team, performed on Cruise Ships, as well as several former students have moved on to teaching careers in Canada, Europe and Mexico.

Wendy has had the opportunity to have worked with several great teachers, including Gus Giordano, Nadia Potts, Robert McCollum, Bob Rizzo, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Gregg Russell, Debbie Vogel, Shane Sparks, Brian Friedman, Wade Robson, Ben & Offer, and Rhee Gold to name just a few. Wendy continually evolves, and always pursues a higher education in dance by taking master classes at the National Ballet School, Steps on Broadway, and Broadway Dance Centre, as well as attending workshops and conferences to enhance her student’s achievements and dance training. A firm believer in good quality training to develop strong technical dancers, Wendy strongly encourages dance examination programs to promote her high standards in dance education. Wendy continues to be a much sought after instructor and adjudicator across Canada & North America. A sensitive and compassionate teacher and adjudicator, Wendy has incredible energy and shares her love of dance with everyone she works with.

Wendy is looking forward to sharing her love of dance with all the students that she teaches, and looks forward to working with the dancers at Moving Arts.

Arianna Goarley

Jr. Dance & Theatre Instructor

Arianna is thrilled to have the opportunity to demonstrate the dance, theatre, and music education she has gained over her 8 years at Moving Art. Throughout these years, she’s participated in the Improv Program and Triple Threat Program. Arianna has appeared on network TV and in commercials and has performed on various stages in theatres across Ontario, Canada for competitive and professional dance, as well as musicals.

Arianna is as passionate about performing as she is about sharing it with others. She’s had the honour of directing several short films, which gave dancers across Ontario the opportunity to appear on screen and showcase their talents. Since she began dancing, she has aspired to become an Instructor at Moving Art to help others explore their love and curiosity for performing. Outside the centre, Arianna spends her time long boarding, roller skating, and directing short films and music videos. She is delighted to be sharing her passion with young students at the centre and looks forward to helping them discover their own passions in the performing arts!

Margo Spellman

Dance Instructor

Margo’s journey in The Arts began at the age of five, when she started dance and vocal lessons. Over the years, her passion blossomed as she expanded into theatre, continuing to develop her skills in both singing and dancing. Margo has completed multiple exams in Modern, Jazz, and Acro dance, and has competed extensively in the GTA area. Currently pursuing her BA (Honours) in French and English studies at Queen’s University, she balances her academic pursuits with a deep commitment to the Arts. Her love for teaching began early, stepping into instructor and assistant roles at her dance studio, Moving Art, by the age of twelve. Since then, she has choreographed routines for competitive students and taught various dance styles in the Barrie and Kingston area.

Margo has been involved in Moving Art’s “In the Schools” program and Queen’s Dance Club’s “Gotta Dance” initiative. As an instructor with Moving Art, she led dance programs in local elementary schools, sharing her passion and knowledge with young students. At Queen’s, as a member of the Queen’s Dance Club executive team, she is responsible for scheduling and hiring for the “Gotta Dance” program, furthering her commitment to bringing dance education to schools.

Margo also serves on the Teen Program Advisory Committee for the charitable organization Wingman for Dance and holds a certification as a Peer Coach, combining her passion for the arts with a strong dedication to mentoring the next generation of dancers!

We are excited to introduce our C.R.E.W here at Moving Art. Our focus is the creative and organizational needs of Moving Art. We discuss current issues, as well as future plans. We connect weekly to discuss and enhance student success to create well-rounded performers. Our goal is to help students develop an understanding and appreciation of the performing arts.

Our frequent meetings allow us to develop and implement strategies that enrich the students’ understanding of the performing arts and motivate learning while building confidence, and enhancing self-esteem.
